I am new to Android Box. I’m coming from Roku where I was using an ultra. My box is old and I find it very limiting in Canada. Looking for recommendations for a good box that is reliable and under $100CAD.
Reason I’m going to Android Box is because Canadian apps like CBC Gem and CTV aren’t available on Roku. I can’t catch up on my favourite shows on Roku.

The only really good options are the Nvidia Shield and Chromecast with Google TV, and given your budget, you'll want the latter.
If your willing to side load some apps the Amazon fire stick 4K will do everything you need. I know it has the CBC GEM app. The 4K stick can be had for <$50 when. On sale.
+1 for Google TV. I have cut the cord and now have three Chromecast Plus google.tv

went from Roku streaming stick to Mi Box. Love it!
I would recommend Tivo 4K Streaming Stick.
It is awesome. I sideload bunch of apps $50 USD Walmart
The mi box s its a very decent tv box, and a least here in México it costs about 75USD, its fast enough, like the cheapests roku devices, the remote its very good and have mic for the assistant, and you can add an usb hub with sd reader or lan adapter, or whatever you need, you can add a usb memory to expand the storage too.
The mi box as it will allow easy sideloading.....Nvidia shield costs much more.
If you are willing to sideload (with a bit more hassle) as some android tv apps don't work on amazon firestick and need the amazon version (which are amazing), then the firestick.
I just picked up an atv box and have a new roku tv.
I have to say the netflix and prime video in hdr / dolbyvision look worlds better on the roku so keep that in mind. I only use the atv for certain things so no big deal.
The Ematic 4K sold by Walmart in the US is a much better choice than the Mi Box if you can get it. I like it more because of the the extra USB ports and mSD card slot.
