Audio through Android TV and Google Home mini speakers

by poornachandra01

I just bought a new Android TV and I have a couple of google home minis I use as smart speakers in my room. Is there any way I can use the minis like additional speakers to my TV? I'm hoping for something like a home theatre experience.

Sorry if this was asked and answered earlier.

Unfortunately not. Google has deliberately made it so you cannot cast the video audio you stream via any android tv app to google home speakers (with the possible exception of the newest google nest audio smart speaker). You cannot pair them with the android tv or chromecast capable tvs/dongles, and they don't have an audio in aux jack to take advantage of (the way the Google home max speakers do). Even with the Google home max speakers, you can't group them with chromecast video dongles, android tv etc, and even with the Google home max speakers, when you plug them in via aux input it does wonky things to the controls (the app doesn't control volume for more than one speaker and even when linked the sound can be off/have a delay).

That is exactly what I did : create a Google Home Mini group in the Home app, then pair with that group. If they have power, the TV will send all audio to the Home Mini speakers, if there unplugged the audio goes to the TV's own speakers.

The TV has to connect to them wirelessly though, and there is no way to use both the wireless speakers and TV speakers at once.
