YouTube Music on Android TV

by ClearlyNoSTDs

What am I missing here? I get YouTube Music because I have YouTube Premium so I thought I'd give it a whirl on my Shield to see how it compares to Spotify. I can install something called YouTube Music from the play store but all it does is open up normal YouTube on the Music tab.

I don't want to watch damn videos. I want to play music like I do on Spotify where I can select playlists and genres and things. All I get is normal fucking YouTube. On my Android phone YTM is an actual app where I can listen to music like I do on Spotify

Am I doing something wrong or is the YTM implementation on Android TV just a fucking joke?

You've said it yourself buddy, it's a F-U-C-K-I-N-G_J-O-K-E! ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜ญ

Yeah, just a fucking joke! Nothing like the mobile app or even like the original Google Play Music. Tbh, you are better off casting from your mobile device.

It had a purpose at one point but then it was felt it will be simpler to just make the YouTube app multi functional. Thatโ€™s why we have all those categories and YouTube gaming is dead for just the gaming tab.

The biggest piss off for me is that YTM is actually in the play store as an actual installable app supposedly compatible with Android TV. What the fuck? It just opens YouTube on the fucking music tab that has a bunch of fucking videos.

It's now inside of the YouTube app itself. One of the tabs says "Music". That's it. At first I was like THIS SUCKS but as I use it more, I like the integration.

Just cast it then if you have an Android tv.

It is a joke, has been a joke since switching from Google play Music. No ability to shuffle your playlists, no mini player to build a queue as you listen, and when on mobile downloaded music frequently errors, not allowing you to listen to the song as you "lose connection"
