Hisense Android TV not Chromecast/Google Home friendly - What am I doing wrong?

by rival_22

Our TCL Roku TV died, and got a good deal on a Hisense Android TV (H651OG). I have an Android phone, and used Google products for a lot of things, so I figured it would be an easy transition.

Our a Roku did the basics well. I could cast to it, or turn it on/off with Google home routines, etc.

But with this TV, I can't do much. I could cast to it at first, but I changed the TV name on the TV and when i wouldn't cast, I removed it from Google home, but it's not even visible anymore from my phone or PC.

Any ideas what is going on, or what I'm missing? Google has it's little bugs that are annoying, but for the most part, their stuff works pretty seamlessly. This is the opposite of that.

You could try:

  1. Fussing more with it
  2. Factory reset on the TV
  3. Spend $50 more and grab the latest chromecast dongle

What TCL model did you have?

Once you've exhausted everything, I recommend getting a Google TV Chromecast. Can't trust native Android TV on TVs

Have you tried a factory reset? I have the same tv and haven't had any problems casting. https://www.hisense-usa.com/support/models/75H6570G_4k-uhd-hisense-android-smart-tv-2020

Yeah this is frustrating. Try Settings->Apps->See All Apps->Show system apps->Chromecast built-in, then Clear data

My hisense looses chrome cast when I want to cast ,so I head into settings and find chtomcast option on about page ,click chromcast & it’ll show a built number open it it should be a white page then chromcast will appeaar on ur phone
