Normally I don't mind ads, but at least in Canada we have the problem where ads are 100x louder than the actual content. CBC Gem or CTV apps on Google TV are terrible for me to use. They have low volume so I have to raise my TV volume pretty high and then I get blasted with deafening ads whose volume is way higher.
Right now I've resorted to the high sea's, but I'd rather use the actual apps if I can. Is there an ad blocker for Google TV that will block these loud ads?
In your Google TV, try adding dns.adguard.com (or 94.140.14.14) as a custom dns.
(I don't know if you can change it)
A more radical solution is to set it up in your router, so it'll apply to all your network's devices, except those that are forced to another dns.
It might cause issues on some websites.

Your solution may or may not be easy to fix.
Easy = The ads you see showing from your apps are from an external site and can be blocked with 3rd party apps like DNS66 or Adguard or Pi-hole etc.
Difficult= The ads are embedded within the App or from the same source of the video content. In this case it would not be easy for the 3rd party apps to totally stop ads.

Use a different streaming service like Netflix, or get filelinked and use it to download some apps with 'AF MOD' in the title. That way you won't get any ads in the first place.

What a massive relief it was to install smart YouTube TV from the aptoide play store, the YouTube payer is almost identical to the conventional player but add free.

I'm not opposed to some adds but Jesus Christ Google are taking the piss big time as well as the content creators too. I think I'll decide when I want to send a donation to a content creator thanks.
It's Googles own fault, they have created this situation and corporate greed always ends up being undone like this, was the same with MP3s years ago

what i do is only watch recorded(DVR) shows and skip the ads with fast forward ... if the channel does not allow skipping i don't watch.
My vote goes to SmartTubeNext . Apparently same developer as Smart YouTube player, however, this has an updated design for Google TV.
Edit: Sorry, I misread your post and thought you were looking for a YouTube ad blocking app. This is still a great app for YouTube specifically.
