Android Phone as Bluetooth remote to turn TV on

by jd-1900

I have a Xiaomi 4S TV, and once it is off, there is no way to turn it on unless using the remote control (which is a Bluetooth remote).

I've been able to pair the phone's bluetooth with the TV. I've tried using the "Android TV remote control" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote&hl=es&gl=US ) but it is unable to turn on the TV, just control once it is turned on. But I can't find a way to send the "Turn On" command through Bluetooth. Or even with the Raspberry PI as the bluetooth remote.

Any idea of how to do it?

Use google assistant "Turn on 'your TV name' " and the same thing to turn it off "Turn off 'your TV name' "

I've yet to find a Bluetooth remote app that can control power. I've got the same box as you and the deep sleep / unreachable issue has been going on a long time, Xiaomi seem unwilling to fix it.

After a lot of experimentation the only partial solution I've found it a smart socket, cutting the power then restoring it will turn the box on and can be controlled from the phone or voice assistant. The downside is waiting for the box to boot

If your phone has IR blaster, you could try that.

Have you tried double tapping the Home button in the app? Usually works for me.

Have you tried to use youtube to send a video to the device or cast your phone screen? Both ways work for me when I lose the remote with a cheap android tv.
