Buy Chromecast with Google TV
Buy a cheap wifi range extender, but make sure it has an ethernet out port on it. Plug the extender close to where the TV will be used, and run an ethernet cable from the extender to the TV. Should be able to fix your issue for under 25 dollars.
You'll probably spend more trying to actually get the WiFi/internet to work on the TV than just buying a streaming device like a fire stick or a Chromecast with Google. The latter basically being Android TV itself. Then if the rest of the TV ends up failing like the wi-fi did at least you'd have an extra streaming device.
Without knowing what brand it it its hard to say so your better off just googling it your self or you could use a ethernet cable instead.
You can also use two powerline adaptors to bring a ethernet connection to the TV
Can you tell the brand and what type it is? I know from my own new Sony that there were some WiFi issues in the first firmware versions. So maybe just throw a network cable to the tv just for the latest update and after that, unplugging the power cord for like 10 minutes for an effective power cycle. Hope that helps!
I had a similar problem with a cheap tv bought by a client. We took the back off the box and reseated the wifi antenna cable. The TV has been fine ever since. You may want to give it a try
That gives you enough money to get a couple of Google Nest wifi routers so you can use ethernet and have money left over. One connects to your ISP's router the other next to your TV and connects to the TV by ethernet. Something to look into.
