Mi TV Stick will eventually boot, but upon starting an app, shows color and reboots.

Hey, I've recently gotten my hands on a Mi TV Stick. My experience so far has been pretty good. Until it randomly rebooted and won't get out of a boot loop. Id see the splash screen (Mi logo 'n stuff), and after that the screen turns into a random color aaaand reboots again. It sometimes gets to the home screen, but upon launching any app it reboots yet again.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I have recently updated via official OTA. That might be the cause. Any idea on how to factory reset it?

YET ANOTHER EDIT: Seems like the issue was overheating. I let it cool for a minute or two and it works perfectly now.

If you are powering it through the USB port of your TV, that might've caused it.

Hello. Were you able to fix this overheating issue? Glad I found this reddit, cos I had exactly same problem yesterday. Noticed that stick was hot as hell, but it's my first stick, so idk if it's okay. I only installed Kodi to stream movies from PC, i was not even able to set it correctly.

It's all good but with a fatal flaw. The heat sink is too small leading to crashes, slowness and unpredictable behaviour.

Fix:

buy a cheap aluminium m.2 ssd heatsink, carefully remove the casing, join the new heatsink together using thermal tape provided. Lightly scotch tape over them together to secure. The remote will still work but the on/off light would be a little hard to see
