Buying advice $900 CAD

by canshesuccc

Had a 4 year old LGUH5500 that shit the bed on me randomly the other night... Never was really impressed with it to begin with anyway.

Looking at the KD65X750H but have seen some less than appealing reviews on here, though it has great reviews on retailers websites, main use will be for a main floor living room.

What should I be targeting with my price range other than this one? I can get it currently for $888.

Buy the best tv you can get for the money (preferably a dumb tv, but they are few and far between these days), then buy a Chromecast with Google TV. Or spend a bit less on the TV and buy a Shield.

Your first stop should not be here, but RTings.com . It's arguably the best TV review website. Start looking at reviews, tick off the TVs you like, and see what the prices are like.

That said, if your budget is $900 CAD, you can cross Sony TVs off your list. I recommend Sony Bravia's more than anything else, but they are out of your price point. I would also not be looking at 65 inch TVs. With your budget, you should be looking at 48-55 inches, as any 65 inches in your budget would just be ... not good. I would probably look at Samsung or LG, as they have decent TVs for $1000 and under. I would avoid TCL though. I just don't like them.

Also, if you can increase your budget to the $1500~ range, you're going to open yourself up to much better TVs, and TVs that can last longer.

I have the KD65X750H, and while I'm not a videophile, it's an impressive device and I'm happy with it.

I'm happy with the functionality of the OS, and being android, it's easy to side-load or install apps of your own choosing. All my most-used apps were all there and ready to be installed. Plex, Netflix, Disney, Steam, Spotify. No android lag like cheap set-top boxes or tablets I've used in the past.

Retroarch works (although I couldn't get SMB shares to work). Google Duo works if you plug in a USB camera.
