Is there any way to watch discovery Channel content using my cable provider login (Cox) on an AndroidTV app?

by skytbest

I don't have actual cable in the room I want to do this in but I have an internet connected AndroidTV.

I'm actually trying to get access to Science Channel content , which is part of the Discovery Network, and found that on the web version I am aable to log in using my Cox credentials and watch anything.

I'd like to do this on my TV though, not a web browser. I do see that there is a Science Channel GO app but it is not support on my Sony X950H. I also found the Discovery+ app this does support AndroidTV, however it runs off it's own credential system and I cannot log in with the Cox login.

Is there any way I can access Science Channel content from my internet connected TV?

Thanks

You would either need to sideload a browser and view it via browser like you do on a PC for example. Or sideload the Science Channel GO app that is designed for phones an tablets.

Unfortunately you will need a mouse for either app, so it won’t be as easy to use as you would like.

Until an app is natively supported on Android TV, that’s your only options.

The cheapest option to watch Science Channel GO using your Cox credentials on your TV would be to buy an inexpensive Roku or Fire TV Stick.

Roku SE Streaming Media Player Currently $17 @ Walmart https://www.walmart.com/product/978777004/sellers

Fire TV Stick Lite Currently $21.99 @ Best Buy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/amazon-fire-tv-stick-lite-with-alexa-voice-remote-lite-black/6429568.p?skuId=6429568

Discovery+ is a stand alone service so that's your best bet for getting some Discovery channel family content without a cable login. If you have a Verizon cellphone you may be able to get if for free. For what ever reason Discovery has never supported Android TV with their TV Everywhere apps.
