So I'm refurnishing my room and currently at the point where I'm researching new Tv's to get. My only 'need' for this new Tv is that it be a smart tv. From what I understand, the two main options are either a Roku Tv or an Android Tv. After looking into both a little further, I feel like the general consensus is that the Android Tv is the better option. However, I keep seeing the word "shield" thrown around and I'm not exactly sure what that means. Is this an additional purchase I would have to make for the Tv or is it included? If anybody can explain this to me in layman terms, that would be great.
As many of the others have said. Buy a TV for picture audio quality , and perhaps OTA compatibility alone..
Using a standalone Android TV device on top of this will allow you to keep your TV for many more years while upgrading the brains of the operation probably several times within the same lifespan.
