No "Google TV" app on Google tv?

by desull

Recently switched from a regular chromecast to the "Google TV with chromecast". So far, I love the remote and steaming is much faster than a normal chromecast.. But I have one issue, how do I get the regular "Google TV" app on my app list? If I use assistant and search for "Google play movies", it opens, so it's there somewhere... I can even go to movies and find random movies that are from it, but I can't find the app to add to my home screen to just browse. Anyone else having this problem or am I missing something obvious?

This is the app I'm referring to Search assistant for google play movies and it opens this automatically.

Google TV is the UI so there is no actual separate app. You can get to the old Google Movies and TV app by voice though.

I believe the OP is looking for the Google TV app which is the new name for the old Play Movies & TV app. I have a Google TV app on my Android tablet and phone.

I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. It's kinda like asking where the Android OS app is on your smartphone...

This isn't the same Google TV from 10 years ago.

This might help. I made some shortcuts you can sideload that put the app tiles for that app and a couple of others back into the app row on CCwGTV

You can do all that in the Google TV app. Movies or shows takes to the store...
