Assistance please with Philips 5800 tv series and Netflix

by noob_battlecatter

By default, the tv has Netflix installed. However, when I try opening the app, there is an error message saying the app is not compatible. It will land on netflix's landing page showing you that you need to redownload the apk.

I have downloaded the apk but it wouldn't install. This has something to do with downloading from external sources. Ideally, I need to change this from the settings (as instructed by Netflix) but can't find it in the browser's option.

Anyone with a similar experience?

Thank you!

The Philips 5800 is not an android TV. It has the crappy “smart” web apps from Philips. The Netflix app was probably discontinued so you need to get yourself an android TV box (shield, google chromecast, Amazon stick, etc) and use it for Netflix

Had a Netflix issue with my 6 year old Samsung TV awhile back. I reset the Samsung smart hub and changed the TV DNS settings to Google's 8.8.8.8. all good and back up to speed

you can call phillips in your country and they email you the netflix apk. Thats what I did for my phillips 5800 series. Works fine, just get annoying notifications popup
