Sony 55" XH90 downgraded to Android TV?

by Irishsmurf

Hey,

I purchased this TV back in December, and it came with the new Google TV UI interface installed (which is great!)

However this morning, when I turned on the TV it seems to have downgraded to the old Android TV interface. Is this expected or something that happens?

Is there a way to fix this?

your tv shouldnt have had Google tv, I would guess it was some sort of weird bug where it was updated incorrectly perhaps??

There are workarounds to get it back, have a read around

Do you mean "built in Chromcast?" b/c the current android 9 doesnt feature google tv.only the chromecast does

It wasn't supposed to. Either the store was messing around or it was accidentally updated while they were working on their new run of tvs. I have this same tv and ended up buying the chromecast. I had the google tv interface installed but it was janky.

This model is on my new purchase shortlist. How satisfied are you with it?

There's a workaround method on this subreddit that explains how to install the Google TV UI. Although it could be a bug. Try asking on /r/bravia

Side question. Why can't I connect this tv to be controlled by my Google home devices? It is very convenient to quickly ask to turn off the TV.

Where did you buy it? Google tv is not due on any Sony tv before the XJ models are rolled out in 2021.
