Apple TV+ app Sony Bravia

So I just got a new iPhone which gave me 1 year of Apple TV+ for free which is great, but there isn’t an app. After researching, it looks like it’s only available on some models (which seems silly because why couldn’t it work?), and my model doesn’t have that new airplay update that unlocked “dormant” airplay capabilities. I have the XBR-55x800E. I was able to sideload it but as soon as it opens, it says that “this app is no longer compatible with you tv, please perform a software update.” I go to do an update, and it says the tv is up to date. I also tried to download a bunch of different AirPlay apps but the videos never load or I get error.

Anyone have any success or suggestions? Thanks!

The Apple TV app will launch on Android TV in “early 2021”, says Google. However, they haven’t detailed the requirements (Android generation etc).

I have a Sony Tv as well late 2018 model. I can’t get Apple TV on it either. Or the new version of airplay. But my 300$ TCL model can. Go figure.

Nothing really works....used to be able.to use a browser but apple.just recently shut that down, screen mirroring nope, sideloading.nope... you can chrome cast.from a PC.browser.but not great.on my wifi. Yours.might.get better.results...my advice would be get yourself a.fire.stick...good.cheap.device and has the.apple tv app. It is available on Sony TV's but only on certain models..

Apple TV? On Android? Nope, i don't think so, and it kinda sounds like a Coke in a Pepsi store. First thing i'd try is to see if browser based Apple TV just happens to work at any usable level. After that i'd probably give it quick Google and likely just give up and run it on some other box (dedicated actual Apple TV? PS4?).

Generally speaking, Google and Apple just don't go along, and Android is, obviously, Google's.

PS: tell us what you end up finding.
