Chromecast with Google TV support

Tone major reason the Chromecasts are awesome is because regardless of version, they all continue to be updated. With the newest now being based on Android, is anyone else concerned how long it will be before Google will stop providing updates/support?

For Pixel devices, the timeframe is 3 years of updates. Is this reasonable for a Chromecast?

My original chromecast is still working.

With a £900 phone I can see why'd you'd be hacked off if it doesn't get updated. We're talking about a £60 thing you stick in the back of your telly. If it gets left behind, just get a new one

Amlogic supports its SoC much longer than Qualcomm for example. Released in 2016, the S905X got updated from ATV 6 up to 9, and may receive 10.

I bet it still doesn’t have Android 11?

The dream goal would be lifetime updates but that is very unlikely, but with 3 years of updates, I will be happy.

One thing in favor of a shorter life cycle is the cost of the device. If we need to replace it every 4 or 5 years, I think it's still a good deal.

I'm worried it's been out 3 months and they still haven't addressed any of the problems from release
