I purchased the Sony X800H and it has AndroidTV built-in. I need some recommendations and advice on how to get the most out of it.

My whole tech eco-system is around Apple. HomeKit, Apple TVs, iPhone, iPad, MacBooks etc. This is literally my first time dealing with AndroidTV. The first thing I got is Kodi and add my local library to it. Any other Kodi tips? Android TV tips?

I would appreciate all the help. Thank you :)

Get the update. It has Apple TV on it. Also that tv has air play built into it. Go to r/Bravia for more info.

As an Apple user that has 3 Android TV I can tell you there is no much difference. I use the tv for streaming only, not gaming on that os. You will find all the streaming apps there: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Plex and a long list. If the OS bothers you too much or becomes unsable, get an Apple TV which is going to integrate way better in your ecosystem. At the end of the day, I use Android TV because I need to sideload apps, otherwise I might be looking elsewhere. Hope this helps

I can't speak from technical view point like codecs support and such but as a tv platform, androidtv is not much different from appletv. Both platforms have all the major streaming options.

In addition to appletv, androidtv also has Chromecast option . I don't use it much personally but it's really loved around this sub.

And thanks to sideloading, you will find few more unofficial additions such as basic ad-blocking, piracy apps for the content not available in your legal streaming options, or sideloading + vpn combo to access legal streaming not yet available in your region, there are some good games too, plus a vast library of retro console games via their respective emulators. X800H should run a good chunk of these emulators just fine.

Many built in apps won't give you access to Motion control (e.g. Eleven Sports), but if you cast it from your phone you get the same quality, plus more options on the video setup.

This looks like a bug on the Android software, but i already took advantage of it when seeing soccer games and Formula 1. A bit of interpolation helps on the fast movements on the big screen :)

First step, buy the chromecast with google tv and try to avoid using the built in Android TV. They lose support from their manufacturer way too soon.
