Chromecast Built-in Sony X900H 65 inch TV quality issue

by Rathauda

Recently purchased a 65 inch Sony X900H TV, and tried the chromecast from my Windows 10 laptop using Google Chrome browser "cast" mode, realized that the quality is pretty poor overall - for example I tried opening a High Resolution photo and it was pixelated. Both devices are connected to the same Wifi network at 5Ghz.

This is the first time i have used Chromecast on an android tv, hence am not sure how it is supposed to be. Is there a way to improve the quality?

If you are casting a Google Chrome tab then "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get), however, if you cast from apps like Google Photos, YouTube, and from the many apps supporting Google Cast, you'll get the best quality available from the server where the media is stored.

Sadly casting anything other than a video that the TV handles playing will be limited to 1080p, not 4K. It can be even lower depending on the resolution that the device (your laptop in this case) sends.

Your best bet for displaying a slide show would be to put your photos on a USB drive, put that in the TV, and display them using the TV.
