preloaded Android Tv box question

by 3838683

let me start off by saying, i have a Nvidia Shield with Kodi installed and Venom. the Shield i bought for my son who barely uses it so i installed Kodi on it just for fun.

a relative of mine bought one of those cheap Android TV boxes, preprogrammed, named StreamGenie for $300+

he started having buffering issues, im an IT tech, so he called me for help.

no matter how much i tried to explain to him that his issue is probably software related, he’s been running back and forth to Best Buy spending hundreds on new modems, routers, and upgrading his ISP package to fix the problem.

my question is NOT about his device. he wont listen, so i dont care anymore.

however, looking in to his issue got me curious as to who is financing these preprogrammed Android boxes? there are a massive amount of them on ebay and online

StreamGenie Tickbox TV FreeStream

is anyone here familiar with these boxes?

best i can find, FreeStream is based out of Texas

Tickbox got shutdown and sued for 25 million in 2017

the StreamGenie i cant find any information on outside of resellers

i did manage to find the same box on AliExpress and a Chinese supplier that will etch your brand logo on the box

is there a forum online or Reddit page dedicated to sellers of these boxes?

Most of this preloads are just free apps available to download.

Or /r/IPTV for IPTV

Those boxes cost very little to produce and the software is all either free or pirated. They make a huge profit off each box at the expense of their customers and other consumers. They don't need to get investors.

REDoneofone

youre supposedly an it tech but youre dumb enough to post on reddit trying to help your thieving stupid relative steal tv using underhanded iptv slime and junk android generic boxes? then you lip off to the people who are diplomatically explaining the futility of your post and turning into a karen. you are getting what you deserve. and fuckoff.

That is not a certified Android TV device, it's just an Android box preloaded with Android for smartphones, which requires a mouse or an air mouse to be able to move around the interface.

Tech support is pretty lame for this boxes, and they usually come issues. It's not that certified ones are free of issues, but at least they get fixed more diligently than in those Android boxes.
