by Nyankawaii

as i download a lot of movies, i need exfat support, i was between the tiVo (more powerful) or the mi box s (will probably get updated more?) I feel safer with xiaomi, but i really dont want to take a performance hit, the ccwgt just... does not support exfat. sugestions? thanks!

I had this same issue recently.

My solution was to just transfer my library over to another harddrive, format to NTFS the one I wanted to use with my Android TV, then move my library of media back to that harddrive.

It works for Android TV 9.

If you convert your drive to internal storage like someone mentioned, that device formats your drive to whatever file format it wants anyways. This causes you to lose the media/data on your harddrive.

Are you sure all those "paragon exfat" and other similar apps wouldn't perform well enough to run a high bitrate movie? Try it, maybe you wouldn't mind not having a kernel support for it all that much.

How do you know the CCWGT doesn't support EXFAT?

How do you feel about NAS?

It's a major problem. Sure if you get a shield you're all set. I have a jetstream that does ntfs/exfat as well but the bluetooth audio got jacked in the last update. Both the tivo and chromecast only support fat32. Possibly mixplorer or paragon can handle it, but I haven't heard confirmation.
