TCL Android TV - Unpairs the Fire Stick remote every time it turns off

by DudeMG

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue with Android TV. I'd like to also use my fire stick but every time it turns off and back on, the fire stick remote can no longer control the volume. When I go into fire stick equipment settings, it shows TV as Samsung even though I set it as TCL (which to me means it reset).

I know this is kind of a cross-over post but hopefully someone could please help.

I have the TCL Android TV and a Firestick. I haven't experienced the problem you describe but I've only had the TV for about two weeks. In the past, the Amazon FireTV remote IR has worked fine for me, with the previous TV (a Visio) and the new TCL Android TV up to now.

I agree that the settings changing from TCL to Samsung is probably a source of the problem for you. Is your firestick old and perhaps out of date now? Or do you have multiple firesticks in your home that are somehow getting confused?

If I were in your situation I might consider a factory-reset of the Firestick and reprogram it from scratch again.

Is the remote Bluetooth? Sounds like Bluetooth connectivity issues. Is it possible that another device is causing interference?

Try impairing it from settings and redo setup. Otherwise you best option would be to go find the remote app in app settings, force stop and clear data and cache.

If this doesn't work try resetting the TV.
