Apps not playing after sideloading on Sony Android TV

by meetneo911

Hello,

I recently bought a Sony Android TV. It works fine with all the regular google play/google store apps.

I tried to upload a few games by downloading APK on google drive and then installing them with X-Plore. They do show up under apps but when I try to open them, they get stuck. I cant seem to go beyond the main page of these apps.

Am I doing something wrong or is the APK file corrupt?

Any good sites to download APK files?

Still trying to figure out the sideloading process so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Kinda in the same boat got my sideloaded apk working but mouse toggle cannot be turned of with the same button (or any) after you activate it.

I'm going to assume you are using sideload launcher - my experience on the Shield is that not all apps will install. Not sure if this is because the rom specifically blocks certain APKs (zoom wouldn't install for example).

Sounds like you are side-loading correctly, but installing some incompatible apps, or incompatible variant of those apps. This isn't a corrupt apk, you wouldnt be able to install one that is corrupt.

Not all apps/games supported on Android TV. For example, CClearner, XPlayer work great on android phone/tablet. But won't work on Android TV (Atleast in my experience).

Share the app names which u r trying. I can try on my TV and comment.

Sony TVs are usually pretty under-powered. Definitely suggest a Chromecast Ultra.
