Go into build number and tap on it for I think 8 times... It will get you developer options
It's a built-in app that can be disabled. Dev options not required. Go into app settings, scroll down until you see something about Chromecast, select it, disable.
I have an older smart TV that is not Android TV but does show up as a chromecast device. I have not found a way to turn it off. My solution... I renamed my TV to "wrong cast device". Works for all but my drunkest friends.
If you need to disable because you are using an external Chromecast or other device, just disconnect the internet from it.

Anyone find an answer to this? 2 Phillips TV just installed with individual CCGTVs and now showing 2x duplicates 😑 what a mess.
It's not possible, it's an "always ON" feature.
Did you get into developer options?
You should find something related that you can turn off in the apps section
