Force close apps in new Dynalink Google TV

by ProfessorXanadu

I picked up one of those Dynalink Google TV boxed (based on Google's own test board). It's a great little streamer and works flawlessly...with one exception. I don't see a way to force close apps.

On other boxes, I can double-press the home button to bring up the recent list, but that functionality is disabled here. I have to go into the setting menu, go to apps, and find the app that's "stuck" (most of the time, Peacock TV) and force stop it.

I'm trying to find a simpler way to do it for the, shall we say, less technically savvy in my household. Anyone else with one of these boxes have a solution?

The only Android TV device with that option is the Nvidia Shield because Nvidia implemented it, in the rest of devices/TVs is absent.

It depends on Google to implement it globally.

Unlock developer mode, and set a limit on background processes. I normally set it to 3 as it leaves room for a VPN, external player and Tv app.

Download button mapper and map one of the buttons to "kill foreground apps". I set my back button long press to it. On another note, I returned mine and got the tivo stream 4k.

Thanks, folks.

I changed the background process limit, and I found that if I keep hitting back enough times in Peacock TV, it exits the app. I'll give the button mapper a try next.

I added the Background Processes app, just like the app on my 4kFS. I can close each app from there. 🙏

Not sure if this has been addressed but Button Mapper (and maybe anything that uses accessibility permission) seems to interfere with the Live Channels app pretty badly. Kills the ability to scroll properly in the guide.
