Love surfshark
NordVPN . Reliable, fast, and very affordable when it's discounted.
I recommend Mullvad VPN and set it up on a router (easy to do if you have an Asus router).
Ipvanish simple to setup
I use private internet access, PIA. It is cheap but fast and I have never had it disconnect on me. I used to use express vpn but my speeds were not that good. My internet connection is 200mb per second. But I always get 220 up and down without vpn. Here are the speed results using (PIA)........

PIA also works great with Android TV. This link tells all about it. No logs, 10 connections allowed simultaneously and much more.... https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/
dont go for any of the lifetime vpn's
I have been using NordVPN for 3+ years on Shield and now GoogleTV. Best in the market with great native app.
Been using protonvpn for couple of years. No problems. Only wish they had a native android tv app but you can get it to work with a bit of jiggery-pokery.
Check first the purpose for which you are planning to get one, then see which one fits the best.
BEST VPN? If you have any computer skill, roll and deploy your own on a hosting server, or in AWS/GCP/Azure/OracleCloud, positioned in any particular colocation area of interest around the world.
This way you don't run into the problems of common-end-point and getting blocked off by cloudflare and many other sites' blocklists.
Granted, this costs a bit more, both in setup and possibly in bandwidth costs. However, you get a personally tailored setup, can use whatever protocol you want, and set it up in whatever area you want. Some services even let you quickly deploy pre-built images with customizations and turn them on and off at will to different areas and data-centers.
That said, your average Joe doesn't want to deal with that and wants to hit a button and go. Which is fine. However, you lose customization, privacy, security, and control when going with an external paid VPN service. However, it IS much easier to deal with.
What are your needs?
Privacy?
Streaming specific services (netflix, hulu, etc) or websites (sbs, bbc etc) or both ?
Your budget?
Edit: I've tried paid (quite expensive but got a good deal), ultra cheap paid and free (as in try before you get the full package) and I can tell you the differences are minimal.
Expensive: $30/year
Cheap $12 lifetime deal
Free/Expensive: 15/20GB accounts and priced in the higher range
All have android TV apps and have their pros and cons. I could list them there if you want.
Surfshark: cheapest, fastest and now with wireguard. Get 30 days free here:
For android phone I have been using GoingVPN. I just downloaded it from PlayStore. Here's the link for those who are interested: https://goingvpn.app/ .
Any monthly VPNs? I really don't have money to throw down 40/60eu right now. Not even in the near future
Not sure how much you trust or like Google but they recently introduced a $9.99/mo VPN which comes with 2 TB of Google Drive storage. It's for Google One
I just got Cyberghost a few months back. Took some configuring to get games from beimg blacked out, but finally got it set. Service is good, don't know much about their privacy or logs.
windscribe build a plan $1 for unlimted data and $1 per location
Anyone you trust giving absolutely all your data to.
I am using Windscribe free 10 gig/month and I really like it. Thinking about subbing but want to know how they treat customer data first? Are they cooperating with authorities or keeping a secret?
