TCL smart TVs may have 'Chinese backdoor' — protect yourself now

this article is pure trash

If it's not a Roku model, then you'll want to make sure that your home Wi-Fi network has a very strong password, and that you don't give visitors the password. Many routers let you set up a separate network for that.

how does a strong password and not giving access to guests solve a backdoor in your tv? the TV already has the password and access to the network...

Wow. Well, i just got an Xbox Series S yesterday, which is perfect for me to stream HBO or Disney+ or basically anything so i restored my TV to factory settings and disconnected from any internet access. I don't have any problem with chinese companies, i love Xiaomi, i love TCL but this is too much for me. I'm not a government person so i don't have any interesting data to steal, but i won't watch porn on my TV if i can't watch it alone... :D
