New Google tv setup, many issues

by Madmox

Just hooked up my gtv last night and it has been plagued with issues. Just FYI. I have a roku ultra, fire tv 2nd generation box and nvidia shield, hooked up to the same denon avr and LG 4k tv. They all work fine with none of the following issues.

  1. Won't recognize my 4k tv, top resolution available is 1080p

  2. Disney+ doesn't work. Get error code 39 whenever I try to play a title.

  3. Prime video doesn't work. Gives me an hdmi connection error message.

This is what I have found, so far. Crave tv works, which makes me wonder if Disney and Amazon issues are geolocation related. My primary Google account was originally setup in the USA, that's the account all my YouTube and assistant is connected to. I have a secondary Canadian account that I use, strictly for getting Canadian apps. This works fine on shield tv, just have to switch accounts in the store when getting apps. I have changed my primary account to the Canadian one, but, it hasn't resolved the issues.

The ui looks nice and it's pretty snappy. Wish the theater control was hdmi-cec, like the shield, so you don't have to point for ir control.

Any Canadians out there having the same issues?

Thanks

I'm in Canada and I didn't have these issues. Btw the device does support CEC for most devices, you can pick what you want the power button, volume and mute buttons, and the input button to do separately.

Looks like those issues are between the CC and your AVR.

Can you test it out by connecting it directly to the TV?.

Did you apply the update to the Chromecast and Remote? Can you try what u/latinriky78 suggests and remove the AVR from the equation?

Did you enable UHD Deep Color in your LG settings for that input?

Moved to a different hdmi port and that seems to have fixed the all issues. Switched hdmi-cec to auto and that fixed the auto switch input, volume control and power toggle issues. All the video streaming apps are now working too. Looks like these things are just fussy with the hdmi. Only thing I can think of, is I was using the front aux hdmi input, which is addressable and shared with the rear aux input. Just a guess. Thanks for all the help guys!

As u/FeelingGate8 suggests, make sure the firmware is up to date and try again.
