(TCL Model-55S434 55’ No way to change audio settings?

by ConcealedPsychosis

I recently purchased new TCL Model 55S434 Android TV from Best Buy and just now gotten around to hooking it up.

Due to being hard of hearing I usually use headphones which uses Optical Out which I made sure this TV had well got everything set up but no sound from the headphones but coming out of the TV.

I’ve gone into the settings and audio out is set but no sound from the headphones anybody got any suggestions?

The manual that came with the TV is a 5 step guide of how to put on the base, setup Android and how much they’ll fuck you with the warranty

I recently got the 50" model and also had difficulties getting the optical audio out to work at all. I eventually switched to another cable, and then it started working. Though later, I switched back to the original optical cable and it continued working, so I'm not sure what happened there. I can only guess that my optical audio cable wasn't seated quite perfectly? Not really sure.

I will mention, though, that I have NOT found any way to disable the TV speakers other than just turning the volume all the way down. I'm also finding considerable audio delay via optical audio out: about 125 ms for Auto or PCM, and about 60 ms with Pass Through.

I'm dealing with similar issues but with a Soundbar. No way to disable TV speakers. TLINK. what they call CEC. doesn't detect my soundbar at all. I can get audio from the soundbar but have to control volume with its own remote which defeats the purpose of wasting an HDMI input on ARC

It's a 2.1 Soundbar with a subwoofer. strongly contemplating using auxiliary 3.5mm cable

Support straight up told me that it does not and will not ever offer an option to turn off tc audio when using optical . They then suggested I just a sound bar with hdmi basically lol.
