Android TV or smart TV you just need to think of it as a monitor, and the visual effect is good enough. The most important thing is to buy a good quality TV box, such as an android/amazon stick or NVIDIA shield
I highly recommend that you avoid tv boxes that are just Android and not Android TV. They are usually not that supported and do not provide a good experience.
I've been using the original Nvidia Shield and it's been running great since I bought it with zero complaints.
You'll be limited with just the TV with what apps u can use ...Easier to fix an Android box than TV. Sony prob best for Android 4k . Pic from X96 is really good 👍
Buy a TV with the best screen you can afford. An external box for Android TV like the new Chromecast is always going to be better supported anyway.
