Chromecast with Google TV disappointment

I was looking forward to becoming a fan of the new Chromecast with Google TV, but it's not working out. We previously used an Amazon Firestick, (and a Chromecast) but I like the idea of being able to access content from different services (Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, HBO) without having to go through each app separately.

I like the look of the homescreen, but have discovered that the functionality is terrible. Video freezes or will not start in Youtube, cannot fast forward or rewind with Hulu, Netflix does not remember where to resume a program. We reconnected the Firestick and everything works as it should, so it's not our wifi or internet connection.

Maybe we just have a bad unit, but the entire experience has been a major disappointment.

It does sound like a bad unit. I went from a firestick 4k to a Google TV with no issues.

Yeah, those are all strange things you have going on there, but they are app issues not device issues. Netflix resume is handled on their end, I'm a pretty heavy YouTube user and I haven't seen any issues there. Hulu also works as expected. I guess there can be lemons in every batch.

Did you apply the update to the Chromecast? As soon as I plugged mine in and finished setting it up it asked to apply an update. I haven't seen any of the issues on mine and I've been using it for over a week.

Same on mine plus the remote can't control my Vizio TV or Onkyo AVR. Also can't watch my local OTA channels on Sling TV using an AirTV Anywhere. Even though they have a Sling TV app, Sling claims they are not supporting in on the CCWGT, Fire Cube works almost perfectly.
