Android TV on the Raspberry pi4. I've tried this and it works no issues yet.

what is App compatibility/availability like?

Don’t think Raspberry Pi will have the DRM for Netflix and Amazon Prime video, if it does then this is a great option.

Holy crap, that guy talks fast.

What remote(s) are you using and how well do they pair?

what advantages does this have over just using a normal android tv box? just wondering not trying to be cocky

Justify_87

What are remotes that work painlessly with this?

For those wondering, this is great for people who already have a raspberry pi 4 and won't have to purchase an Android Tv box for the android tv experience.

Or

If this develops to the point where performance on this is better than a Mi Box or Google Chromecast TV, then it's a very good option in terms of performance vs price. It will sit closer to the Nvidia Shield in terms of performance.

Of course, DRM, netflix certifications, and built-in Chromecast will hardly ever be fully working. So, not as polished as buying a certified box.

hi, hope someone can help I managed to install android tv on pi 4. Also downloaded a chinese karaoke app. However, once I open the app, I couldn't press any buttons. Looks like it's a phone app adapted to tv. Is it an issue with no mouse/keyboard support? I need a touchscreen? Also what are the keyboard controls? I managed to figure out f1 and f2 for home and back.

Just tried this myself last night. Overall it works "ok". I was able to install a non-Google app to watch video. I can watch YouTube. Only issue I've run into is Amazon. I can browse video listings, watch trailers, but not any of the actual movies/shows. Only get a "something went wrong" message. Still trying to see what I can do to get movies to play from Amazon.
