To me the black looks better in a dark home theater setup.
It doesn't matter what we like or not, I expect the interface will be 'upgraded' to Google TV which has less functionality.
How did you do this?
Being the shield already updated its Android TV Home apk & it didn't bring homescreen ads for the last 3 versions, unlike the Mi Box, Nvidia will likely opt out of them, yet again.
EDIT: If you happen to have homescreen ads on your Mi Box, uninstall updates for the Android TV Home app & install v2.0.10-307630529-f-1010900306
I still prefer this UI over the new Google TV UI, the new one just feels too much in your face while this one mantains the balance of to the point apps and reccomended content.
Install another launcher such as HALauncher that allows you to choose the background of your choice. Problem solved.
Agree with you.
Telstra? Whyyyy?
So, every android 9 TV gonna have that upgrade to google tv? I got a mitv 4S 55 and I got no news on an update. Wasn't android tv called google tv before?
Fake news perhaps?
Blue in particular looks good. Probably why I always like the Windows Media Center interface.
How did you do it?
this ui would be ideal if they just removed those circle icons and labeled the rows smaller to me
Black just looks totally unfinished and on many TVs looks like crap if you have some backlight bleed. I wish we could select some default background that replaces black and then it can dynamically change from there.
We can change the background colour? ooooh - gonna have to check this out!
It annoys me that, given Android's famed customizability, the same level of freedom doesn't apply to Android TV.
I guess it's no big deal (ultimately I'm using it for the content, not the interface) but I'd still like the option to change basic layout or background beyond just the order of rows and what services are visible.
And I agree, something more interesting than a plain black background would be great
