And with a modern underlying v4.9.125 Linux Kernel as well which brings with it extra benefits.
In the end this is one of the reasons you pay extra $$$ for Sony TV's.
Seems they are taking a leaf from Nvidia Shield's long term Android support book.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/j9rv3y/android_9_update/?sort=new and there https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1602502853 One big topic is needed here.
All models that receive the Android9 update are listed there. This applies to the model line from mid-2016 to 2019 (TVs that did not receive adnroid 9 at the beginning of 2020). The release date in Europe according to Sony's European headquarters is planned before the end of 2020.
Interestingly, Android 9 runs on the latest version of the 4.9125 kernel, although Sony claimed at the beginning of the year that it was not possible to run it on an older mediatec SOC. Android 10 and 11 are also running on this kernel (and I don't think the HW would be more demanding than android 9), maybe we will see another big update in the future.
Hope that kernel will be more stable than the 3.10 kernel, which is modified to run Android 8. This kernel is not very successful and I hope that the sony X900f with Android 9 and the 4.9125 kernel will be more stable and smarter. And maybe we will see Airplay, Dolby Atmos and Homekit in the future, which comes standard with Android TV 9. (the current buil for TV 6.7115 is a pure version of Android)
The end of the year will be interesting. Thanks to Sony for managing to upgrade the kernel to 4.9125. And don't kill software support for two years old tv and newer :)
X900F will get some Pie?
This is awesome! My X850F is a part of this list, very nice to see :)

I have a C generation!
I love that their source is reddit. Reddit -> Androidpolice -> Reddit.
It doesn't seem like this affects the 930D does it?
For anyone wondering where is the list. Click this link and scroll to the bottom https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1602502853
Anyone know why the XBR-65X850E from 2017 isn't getting a update? I cant find it on any of the lists.
I bought H96 max X3 from aliexpress for 30€ and flashed it with ATV 9.0
and it's fucking amazing
Hoping this fixes the ARC/Sonos issue that broke with Oreo!
That is interesting, considering that Sony told us that the processors in these were too weak for Android 9...
Anyhow, I am pretty happy to see that they decided to do this.
