Why use Multiple Google Accounts on GoogleTV

by gwrapps

Has anyone figured out yet what the purpose is of logging into multiple Google accounts on the new Chromecast w/Google TV? It wont let me change profiles as we found out on Day1, but I thought it would at least combine all the Watchlists from every account that is logged in (nope, it wont)

Is there a purpose to it at all? I don't see why anyone would even bother to log into the device with more than 1 account. What am I missing?

Live with an 8 year old for a week and see how many times google suggests "descendants" related content. That's your answer.

The only use I have found is to switch accounts inside the youtube app. I use it in my bedroom TV when my 5 years old daugther wants to see minecraft and animal crossing videos there.

I do use multiple accounts in my Shield TV.

One account its configured for the USA market and the other for Dominican Republic, so I can download certain apps that are not published in the USA market. In Google Play I can switch between then and download the need it content.

According to the YTTV Reddit, the engineers are aware of this and are working on fixing it but no timeframe for it yet. In the meantime, you still have to change profiles/accounts in the apps themselves.

CCGTV, I have a shared tv in the family room and I don't want just my recommendations to show on the main screen, I just want recommendations from that tv to be displayed.

I created a shared gmail account. Set it up with my primary account. Added the shared account and then removed my primary account. The shared account is part of my family group.

Don't have the device but i think it's just working on YouTube at the moment.

When inside an app logout and when you go to log in it will show all the accounts to choose from. The home screen only shows suggestions for the main profile at this point though.

SETTINGS > APPS > SYSTEM APPS > LAUNCHERX [ clear all data ]

solution that is as ugly as it sounds... and yet a workaround for US , to switch google accounts for the launcher/google home screen.
