Google TV vs Android TV: my opinion

by Jjgilly

I've had multiple android set top boxes over the years ranging from MINIX boxes to Nvidia shield TV boxes. Yesterday I got the new Chromecast with Google TV. Maybe it's my years of experience with Android TV versus my lack of time with Google TV, but I find the latter harder to navigate. Personally I feel like Google TV should have an area dedicated to my purchases and my library of movies. None of the recommendations are even similar to what I'm currently watching or my history. I think that UI looks cool but I'm not sure if the user experience is as good as Android TV.

The Library tab is an area dedicated to purchases and your library of movies. You can add anything form your services there by adding it to your watchlist

I totally agree - I actually find the shelves approach on Android TV a lot more useful and easier to navigate. I kind of like the live YoutubeTV integration on the home screen but honestly even that is clunkier then I would have expected. The guide is nice but then it just launches you in to the standard YTTV app and that experience is not totally seamless.

OP, can you extract and share the Google Tv home apk Full you Google tv?

Guide to extract APK

sideload APK Extractor ( https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/meher/apk-extractor/ ) to your chromecast with google TV

Then can use AppManager/APK Extractor to find the application named as "com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx" then you can get the APK file and upload to Google drive and share here~
