Had it lass than 12 hours now, so far I am bummed, wondering if I got a lemon or if anyone else is seeing this:
I have this random line of white pixels glitching across the screen whenever I play video (look at screenshots, just under the captions). It mostly happens in Netflix but I have seen it pop up in other apps like Prime as well. I tried changing HDMI ports, refresh rates, even enabling or disabling Dolby Vision on my TV...nothing fixes it. It happens at random times, and at random places across the screen. Very distracting. I was able to grab a screenshot, the line literally appears for a fraction of a second. Anyone else seeing something like this? I have a Vizio Quantum TV in case that helps. I wonder if this is hardware or Software related.
Other observations/gripes:
- On the "For You" tab, the list of Apps is exactly the same as the list on the "Apps" tab. I can change the order, but can't make a different order to select the # of apps that appear there other than the same as the Apps screen. Why have the exact same list in both places? I would have preferred the list on the For You tab to be more customizable, like the top row of the old AndroidTV Launcher
- Live tab does not appear with Hulu Live (I expected this, just wished that it supported more than just YTTV)
- No real multi-user support. I see my Google avatar in the top right corner. I added my family Google Accounts and if I click my photo I can see the other accounts, but there is no way to "switch" to them. No idea why they are able to be added if they don't do anything.
- No Peacock support (Yet I assume?). I can add the app and play videos, but they aren't integrated into the GoogleTV experience.
- Can the Watchlist track episodes watched? I couldn't find a way to do this.
Overall I am less impressed than I thought I would be. Still playing with it.
I've noticed that the "Continue Watching" list only tracks what you've been watching from a few select apps. Netflix, YouTube TV, and (strangely) CBS All Access seem to be the only streaming apps that support the "Continue Watching" row right now. So it seems that, even among those apps supported by Google for the "Google TV experience," there are still different levels of support.
Was hoping there would be more consistency. At the moment it still reminds me a bit of the last iteration of Android TV -- where some apps supported their own channel row, but still didn't support the "Play Next" row. But I'll hold out hope that Google is still trying to get all of them to support all aspects. (naïve. I know.)
I also noticed that, despite it being included in the settings as an app that Google TV can recommend and deep link directly into, Showtime is not supporting any of that Google TV experience at all either.
