Google TV or Mi Box S

Hi, I've been waiting for new chromecast being presented. Now I'm wondering if it is better than Mi Box S My thoughts:

  1. Google chromecast is not available yet in Poland, once it will be, probably will be more pricy as somebody have to import it to country
  2. When it comes to specs, it isn't any better, am I right?
  3. I saw some where that new UI will be available in Mi Box S in the future

What are your thought? Am I missing something? May be there is a third option? Or maybe you know a way to buy new chromecast in Poland (it is not on Amazon for example)

To me the new Chromecast has way better specs, the SoC is the third generation (Amlogic S905D3/X3), the Mi Box S uses an S905X SoC from 2016.

It will eventually come to other ATV devices but we don't know which one yet.

The Chromecast has Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10+ support. The Xiaomi doesn't have those. You also get updates from Google that should be more stable than the Xiaomi one, known for their bugs and instability.

Even if it's a bit more expensive, you won't regret it.

Chromecast is quite better from both hardware and software point of view.

The only drawback compared to MiBox is the lack of spare ports, if you want to play a movie from a pendrive you'll need a USB-C hub with power in the new Chromecast. Or plug the pendrive in another device that shares its content over the network, like a PC or some routers that turn any USB drive into a networked drive.

To be honest - I have Mi Box S and it works flawlessly. Didn't had any problems with it, works super fast, it includes USB port, mini-jack port, remote from TV works as well with Android TV, wifi and bluetooth adapter works very fast, GeForce Now works and looks really good. Can't see how new Chromecast would appeal to me better than Mi Box.

Mam Mi Box S i kupuje CC w/ GTV przez Google Store i ściągam go do PL poprzez stronkę kurierus.com. Tak samo ściągałem Nexus Playera w 2014 roku i wszystko było git. Mi Boxa przerzucam do sypialni, a Mi TV Stick na działeczkę.

google chromecast is more powerfull so go chromecast mi box 3 mi tv stick and mi box s will get google tv ui before 2022

Well I live in Albania and tried to access the google store direclty to check the new chromecast price for europe, and as expected it warned me that it isn't available here, but I coule select another country to see the price. I tried with germany and indeed it showed up and you can preorder it right now for 68 € with free shipping. Didn't find any info about when it will be shipped in europe but they said on the presentation that it will be available by the end of the year in europe. I believe you can check the preorder price for Poland there, just google chromecast with google tv, it was the first result for me.

To be honest, the best one is the Shield TV, but out of the two you suggested I'd say the Google TV.

Is it known if the Kodi app will be able to be installed on the new Chromecast? I'm assuming yes but until someone is actually doing it.....

New CC is very focused on recommendations, which by many are seen as ads. That is something I wouldn't recommend. mibox seems like a better option based on that alone

I don't understand why Google was attempting to put duo on Android TV and now "Google TV" at least this version doesnt have that option
