$50 device and took 3 updates straight from Android TV 6.0. Google Nexus Player took 2 😂 and broke the Nexus Players at unfixable boot loop like mine.
Xiaomi doesn't provide updates people are complaining, Xiaomi provides updates again they complain. iSheep propaganda brain washed Android fans that our systems don't take updates but things changed much past 7 years.
Anti China and politics feelings cannot beat the fact, an Android TV device took almost as many upgrades to official OS as Shield of $300. Money well spent for Mi Box fans and great news for Android TV ecosystem.
I am owner of Mi Box 3, Mi Box S and Shield TV 2015 and Shield Pro 2019.
What’s new (that I noticed so far):
Yeah, just checked mine, its there. Downloading now
Waiting so long for this...😍😍
Downloading to Mi Box 3 too. Thanks pal.
Any info on the update? Xiaomi isn't exactly known for stable updates. I wouldn't update just for the sake of updating.
Am I the only one who can`t connect anything except the remote to the mibox after the update?
Tried 2 dualshock 4, one speaker and a pair of buds.
Which mibox is it? The newer one or the older one?
Interesting. I hated my mibox for the longest time. Hang ups. Crashing. Overheat and turn off. Barely worked. I updated the day before the new chromecast came out with the intention of buying it. Well since then mibox has been working great. Waking up from sleep, no crashing, as intended. Basically enough to making upgrading not a rush at all until the usual shit starts happening. Good update for once
Some users report no HD Audio passthrough support anymore in this version (Dolby Atmos, DTS:X etc).
Can anyone try and verify it's gone?
If this is the case, it's a real DOWNGRADE!!
Does it fix the Cast issue, where it doesn't show up in standby mode?
Anyone get Blokada 5 properly installed & running on the Mi Box with Pie as of yet?
EDIT: Never mind, worked out a solution myself.
You know if i can link Android TV with Google nest mini?
Please help me, I use a computer screen for Box 3 and not a TV screen and after the update to Android 9 the whole display moves to the top left corner, for a full screen display you can lower it to the lowest resolution, if you set more than the minimum resolution the display moves to the corner again, how can i fix that?
Does anyone know how to force this update? Mine is still on Android 8 with no update available after all this time.
Edit: Maybe they pulled the update due to so many problems? What a piece of junk this box is.
any info for those built in mi tv 4s android?
My mibox 3 mdz-16-ab is a brick now constant issues with WiFi, YouTube not working properly, have to reboot mibox constantly to make YouTube videos play, shit update that I'm very regret, if someone know a way to downgrade to previous build please.
The update showed up in mine, but is not downloading... Does anybody is having this issue too?
Thanks just checked and the update was there waiting for me. I'm downloading it now.
Are there homescreen ads on the new OS using the current Android TV Home apk? Using the old one (2.0.10-307630529-f-1010900306) without issue/ads, but that fix wont last forever.
/u/rk_29 can you make a stickied post regarding the update where people can report bugs etc.
if it makes sense to do

I am downloading it right away. Hope there aren't any bugs 😉
I think it will break my pass through to avr. I guess I'll wait until they fix that
If you want to report bugs to the developers, you can do so here.
Does it have 5.1 support now?
Dobly Vision (not even talking about Atmos)
I hooked up a Sonos Beam and realised all content was being played in stereo 2.0 only, all apps no matter if the source is 5.1. Hopefully they solved that.
Anyone else with the same issue?
Resolution on my mi box 3 is dropping from 4k to 720p when in sleep mode
I'm getting an ethernet cable is not connected issue a lot after update. I can go into developer settings and change USB mode to ethernet to fix it but this seems to revert back to default USB power mode sometimes too
Any info on how to downgrade from 9 to 8? My ambilight setup doesn't work on any video app since the update. I found tutorials to downgrade on MDZ-16-AA bot not on MDZ-16-AB.
Is there's a way to downgrade?
Update failed for me and now xiaomi mi box 3 is stuck in bootloop (xiaomi logo screen), looking for advice how to reset/factory reset to get my mi box 3 working again. Would love suggestions how to resolve this issue. Thanks
I wonder if the YouTube crash bug is solved. Any info on that?
With the """"latest android 9.0"""" yes a lot
Are there any features worth upgrading for?
Any way to block this update?
still "wake up from remote control" bug persists , after all those patches , updates Xiaomi still can't just fix a simple problem. Every other device just works fine, wakes up with a power button, just not Mi Box 3 .
This update has broken my Mi Box 3. Wi-fi keeps turning off by itself, and my USB ethernet adaptor no longer works on the unit at all. It's functionally a brick now. 😔
So I updated hoping that the disconnecting remote issue would maybe be fixed, but it seems that it hasn't (thou the reconnecting seem to work slightly better). Also now my Spotify connect (controlling Spotify on the Xiaomi from my computer) has a very annoying delay at maybe 2-3 seconds. Anyone else having the same problem?
You mean xiaomi mi box S? Mine says no update and still stuck on android 9 no update since April
Every time I update the mibox it becomes worse. I'm blocking it in my router 😂
There's barely any difference between Oreo and pie on android TV
curiously why they don't just go straight to Android 10 as 9 is so 2 years ago already....
So by the time Google is about to release an Android TV-dongle is when Xiaomi decides to upgrade? And to a two year old android version at that.
thanks for the info, can confirm, updating now, if it's shit I'll switch to Google's chromecast
