Can't control my TCL Android TV with Google Assistant

by netoh02

whenever i say "Hey Google, turn off my TV" (btw, Google Assistant on phone) it replies saying "Sure" like it did anything. the problem is, my tv doesn't turn on. I also tried saying stuff like "launch Netflix on my TV" and other apps like YouTube but i always get the same "Sure" but with no action. this is the only android tv i have and it is associated to my account and Google Home. any way i can solve this problem?

Some suggestions:

  1. This has happened a few times on my Sony AG8, try powering down your TV and restarting, then trying again.
  2. Make sure your TV and assistant device are in the same group in Home, or specifically call out the room when issuing the command.
  3. Check for firmware updates.

Try replacing the "my" with "the": "Hey Google, turn off the TV".

Don't say "launch" but "open":

"Hey Google, open Netflix".

"Hey Google, open YouTube".

Let me know if it works.

By the way, there is this OK Google website that could help you trigger some commands.

Now GA cannot turn off TCL TV. Feature was removed all of a sudden.
