Hi,
I have a single PC hooked up to a desk with a monitor for work, and to a TV in front of a couch for Netflix, YouTube etc.
I use one of those wireless keyboards to watch stuff on the TV, but I've been facing some issues
I can't cast anything to YouTube, Netflix etc from my phone, and it really annoys me. Plus the video quality I get from a Shield which is in another room is much better on Netflix. Also the Windows 10 interface is kind of garbage compared to Android TV for this.
So I wanted to setup a VM, which runs on the TV, and I want it to run Android TV. I was reading a bit and it seems there are certain android x86 ports, but none for Android TV?
Would it be possible to run Android TV on a VM? Any ideas how I could achieve this?
Casting functionality only works for licenced Android TV devices, so the "built-in chromecast" is not gonna work. You also won't get widevine l1, which means shit quality in streaming apps if they even allow you to use it without l1.
I have a odroid N2, which can load an unofficial Android TV image. Tried it once and as I mentioned above, no widevine l1 and no built in chromecast.
I think you're better of buying the new dongle from google or something else that is a official Android TV device.
