At wits end with TV settings - please help

by AlongCameSuperAnon

Already posted to the shield subreddit, but I'm desperate for help.

I can't seem to figure out how to stop fast moving objects on screen to stop flickering - specifically the ball when watching soccer.

Below is a list of my available TV and Shield settings. I'm not knowledgable enough to understand how these setting interact with each other. Any tips or advice that will save me from going through each possible combination is appreciated

  • Dynamic Contrast: Low/Medium/High
  • Action Smoothing: Low/Medium/High
  • Natural Cinema: On/Off
  • LED Motion Clarity: On/Off
  • Game Mode: On/Off

Use these optimized settings for your tv:

  • Picture Mode: *Movie
  • Contrast: 95
  • Brightness: 52
  • Gamma: 2.2 (via Roku app)
  • Color: 46
  • Tint: 4
  • Sharpness: 0
  • Color Temperature: Warm
  • Backlight: 7
  • Noise Reduction: off (via Roku app)
  • Local contrast: High
  • Natural cinema: On
  • TV Brightness: Brighter.
  • Any individual R,G, or B color subcontrols, if present, should remain at their default settings.

For the TV check out the RTINGS settings page for some recommended settings to help with motion amongst other things.

As for the the Shield the only setting that could affect motion of those you’ve listed would be the resolution and refresh rate and you should have it set to “4K 59.940Hz DV & HDR10 Ready”.

The match refresh setting shouldn’t matter for sports since they are broadcast at 60Hz and not 24Hz like movies and TV series.

In the end it could just be the quality of the stream and there is nothing to be done about it.
