Am a newbie to android tv. I tried to install popcorn time using downloader and the app is successfully installed and i can use it. But once i exit the app i cannot find it in my app list or anywhere. Any suggestions?

maybe the app dont create a shortcut
There is an app called Tv App Repo that can generate leanback launcher shortcuts to non-ATV applications, it's really nice.
