Ads on the top of Nexus Player Home Screen

by infomofo

I don't know when it started, but recently I'm seeing ads at the top of my Nexus Player Home screen. They are labeled with "Google Play Staff Pick" or "Sponsored" but it's all pretty irrelevant content. Anyone know if there's a way to turn this off?

I haven't seen anything like this on my other Android TV device (Nvidia Shield), so I'm hoping it's just a setting I couldn't find to turn it off maybe? Anyone have any tips on where to turn these off?

The best thing you can do is to leave a negative review https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tvlauncher

It's new. Just started a couple of days ago. They love to mess with our home screens. You can't turn it off, its on all Android TV devices

This is bullshit I didn't spend thousands on the TV to have it shove ads in my face, I spent thousands to have youtube shove ads in my face.

I uninstalled the updates and my Sony Bravia is back to how it was, ad-free. Does anybody know if there is a way to disable auto-update? I scanned through the menus and didn't see anything, but honestly there such a mess it could be in there.

If they want to fiddle with thing they could start with that instead of making the home screen worse, again.

Uninstall updates to the Android TV Home system app & install v2.0.10-307630529-f-1010900306 from APKmirror to have the most recent version prior to the ad-ridden nonsense.

You can install another launcher. I am using the HAL Launcher, available at the Play Store. I don't see any ads.

If you uninstall the updates for the Android TV home app it goes away. I'm sure it will come back but this removed it for me on my Sony Bravia.
