Best TV browser

by fayke10

I use my TV mostly for streaming, Netflix, prime, but also like to stream websites with video on them. I have tried the air TV mini, with puffin and Samsung browser, but the device seems to freeze, and I have not been able to find a good cursor app, have been using Android TV remote as well as cursor remote.

I have also used the fire TV with Firefox and silk browsers, do seem to work better, but still cursor and control are not what they could be.

With the Nvidia shield do anyting better in terms of browsing. My understanding is that it is simply better in terms of gaming due to the hardware. It does not improve streaming.

So my question is what device or solution do my current devices can make my browsing experience more closely match my phone browsing experience. Is there another device that may be better for my needs?

One solution that I have Come upon is the web video caster app, this can usually cast a web stream to my TV

I sideloaded Google Chrome into the shield and bought a $20 remote that has an airmouse and keyboard and it works great for me (WeChip W1)

I have a Shield and I've tried 3 browsers.

Firefox is best so far. But, it doesn't let me do any bookmarks or anything so I have to type it out every single time. Ugh.

Chrome lets me get to settings (3 dots) but it only lets me voice search (which doesn't work lol)

Penguin TV just doesn't load.

I'm going to try other ones when I can.

I have a Shield and both Chrome and Firefox (mobile version not TV) work great on it. The Shield has its own remote app that can be used as a mouse and keyboard. Both browsers need to be sideloaded but they both do everything I need.

TV Bro. Gotta DL it from their site tho.

I use this version on Chrome on most of my Android boxes (have not tested it on my Sheild), Chrome-57.0.2987.132_arm(4.1+).apk. It supports, copy/paste, and open in new window, etc......

Use that in conjunction with a G30s air mouse remote, and it works almost like a computer browser.

Nvidia shield tv pro is best out there. I have dsl 1M up and can stream and browse nicely. I use TV Bro to browse and download apk to side load apps

On my SABA Android TV I use Chrome and Puffin. While the second seems to be lighter on the system, it's difficult to navigate between tabs and, if your TV goes on screen saver mode, you will lose the tabs opened at the moment before. For the streaming both of them work fine. I guess it depends pretty much on hardware and internet connection.

Puffin TV. Find it on aptoide, or search for an APK. It even has an adobe flash option! Looks very good on tv boxes.

On Android TV devices and the new Chromecast with Google TV, most browsers still require an added "air mouse" remote or wireless mouse except Firefox for Android TV and TV Bro.

The latest and most compatible browsers (direct download links) can be found below. Even though overall it is a very capable browser, I would personally exclude the UC browser because its "air mouse" cursor position does not line up correctly on the screen.

also use Downloader app code 80695

I revoke what I said beforehand. On Aptoide, there is a tv version of Mozilla firefox.

The suggestions on here didn't work for me, so here is what I found out.

For me, Samsung Internet browser and Opera browser downloaded trough Aptoide TV work.

Puffin Browser works very well for me.
