Hi, sorry for the dumb question. Was wondering if there is any way at all to add a system tweak to the actual operating system so I can change the screen resolution freely. I mean this in the sense that my 4k tv is great, however with obviously a lot older wii games, I would love to change the resolution outside of the current settings. Doing so would be nice because changing the picture setting from wide/full to original still blimps up the image way too large for something not made for 4k.
I'm mixing my words up so if you don't understand what I'm asking, let me know. It's just frustrating with the current options provided that there isn't more flexibility with setting screen size, especially within an input
You need to keep in mind that analog sources, like what the Wii puts out, are usually at a very low resolution. The Wii in particular is capable of 480p at best (which is 704x480 progressive), and that's with component cables. Upscaling from 480p to 2160p is going to look noticeably bad, but you're going to have to deal with that.
The Wii can be configured to output in 16:9 aspect ratio, which is widescreen, and would better fill up the screen. Setting your TV to stretch the image shouldn't cut off the edges of the incoming signal, but will fill out the display.
You might look at something like the Framemeister, which can take an incoming analog signal and upscale it better than the built-in upscaler on most TVs.
