Is Tivo Stream 4k Remote Bluetooth?

by gwrapps

I really like the Tivo Stream 4K remote but am also considering a new TV that has Android TV built in. Does anyone know if the Tivo remote is Bluetooth and can pair to other Bluetooth compatible TVs or AndroidTV devices, or is is a custom RF to just the Tivo Stream?

It's Bluetooth. It can be paired with a Shield TV so in general yes it should pair with Android TV. Can't say if everything will work on your particular box but you can try it.

I paired the remote to my Shield no problem.

But when I wanted to use it again with the Tivo Stream 4k I had to pair it once again.

Awesome, thanks! By chance has anyone tried to pair it with a Sony Android TV?

For what it is worth I bought 2 of them and it was nothing but trouble. It was not ready to be released so we were being used as guinea pigs. Nothing against Tivo as I have been a Tivo user for 12 years but this was not ready. I finally had to disconnect both boxes from both of my SONY TV sets as they were causing all kinds of issues even after updates.

I would look somewhere else. I wrote a nice review on it before all the issue started. I thought it was a good alternative to standard Android TV but that said I think you are better off with a Roku or AppleTV4k or Amazon Firestick.

The remote worked fine with my TV sets.

I have one setup on an 8-year-old Sceptre TV that's a dumb TV with no Bluetooth and it controls the volume and the power on and off
