Mi Box S keep dropping WiFi and this is really annoying

by turko9999

Hello, I know this is common problem but I do not have 5 ghz router or ethernet adapter. I tried factory reset, installing wakelock app, set modem channel to 6,7,8, changing channel width 20&40 but nothing happened. Still keep dropping WiFi and I cannot do anything with that mi box. I can't find any solution and need help. What should I do?

Edit: I also installed latest firmware.

Could you try two things, make sure your router has the latest firmware. On the device reset it and select USA as the country. Then see if the device WiFi is stable now. You can leave your router at channel 11 if using 2.4Ghz band.

You need to get a 5Ghz router. Good ones are not that expensive really.

Here is a good one: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-AC1750-Smart-WiFi-Router/dp/B079JD7F7G

2.4GHz is really bad when the rf environment is congested.

If you run a wifi scanner/analyzer app on your phone/pc how many other networks are around you? Post a pic and we can help choose the least utilized 2.4GHz channel.

Please save yourself some frustration and get an ethernet adapter. It is guaranteed to solve your connection problems and a lot cheaper than replacing your router which possibly may not solve your problem if there is a ton of rf interference.
