Next time look for an solution for your problem before recording a video. Unninstall the updates of google and google assistant on the mi box, restart, update all over again and try it.
If still doesn't work, do it all over again, but before delete the mi box from the google home app.
I'ts a bug from android tv 9.0, not the mi box itself.

Was great out of box but each update it had been worse. It feels so under powered
The Ematic Jetstream compared to the Mi Box S (which share the same hardware with one extra USB port and an ethernet port) has been more stable regarding to the OS part than the one in the Mi Box, when Android 9 arrived to the S it wasn't without bugs unlike the Jetstream which arrived very, very stable, I highly recommend it.
Mi Box fanboys can't stand the fact that Xiaomi devs are pretty bad at fixing bugs, I owned a Mi Box S and I sold it just to get the Jetstream, it's the best investment I've made ever since I bought the original Mi Box.
It's a device that can do the job, but most often than not it's done with mediocrity. Mi Box S ROM sucks
It's works about as well as you want it to for $60, it's pretty regularly updated, $60 aint much if you're in the market for an atv box. You can think it's meh but if you wanted more than that you shoulda got the shield so you can be disappointed by that too.
