For Android TV OS on a TV you want the most powerful chipset under the hood you can get.

Specifically a decent, new MediaTek SoC, a bunch of the snappy new Sony’s are also packaging.

The “U” Range of OnePlus TV’s packs 3GB RAM, a MediaTek MT5887, 1.5GHz 4x ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, Mali-G51 GPU. That GPU is pretty damn good and will make a Noticeable difference.

Thst combo should make for a nice snappy OnePlus Android TV setup vs the slower, budget AMLogic chipset the Mi TV will be packing.

OnePlus has quite a huge reputation in the market as a flagship smartphone brand and within a year, the brand has launched quite a number of smart TVs as well. These smart TVs range in every segment and not just the high-range buyers, even the budget buyers can get these smart TVs in India at a price starting as low as 13k.

However, if you talk about their competition in the market, I think OnePlus smart TVs have a number of competitors. And the most prominent competitor is Xiaomi as Mi TVs have been ruling the India market for a couple of years now. These budget and feature-laden TVs from Mi have become a popular choice of the people and amidst this, OnePlus may be trying to penetrate the market with its powerful and smart TVs. Most importantly, almost all the smart TVs are powered by Mediatek chipsets and this is what makes them quite affordable, yet powerful.

But wait! There’s more to the competition. Even Realme has launched a series of smart TVs in the market and these again start from the budget segment. No doubt, OnePlus smart TVs in the affordable segment were launched to counter Realme smart TVs in the market. So you can say that the competition is tough but OnePlus, with its powerful reputation, would surely carve its niche in the smart TV market as well.

I believe in India you can get some of the higher tier Phillips TVs with the built in hue. I would recommend that.

I’ve bought LG 49NANO866 because in 2020 good TV must have HDMI 2.1, at least 100hz screen and HDR10. So I’ve got it and now waiting for new google chromecast dongle with built-in android. Or will buy ShieldTV.
