I'm interested in picking up a new Vizio TV but I've never been a fan of their software. Has anyone experienced any issues with using Shield/Android TV devices with their Vizio TV? Hoping all of the power on/CEC features of the Shield work as expected so I can just power the TV with the Shield remote and go straight into Android TV without having to go through Vizio's Smarcast screen first.
Also have this set up, along with an HDMI sound bar. CEC all works great, my only gripe is every time the TV turns on it shows a message at the top that only goes away with the TV remotes exit button (or times out after a few minutes). It says something like “audio device found and set up, tv remote changes volume”. Super annoying and wasn’t there until a TV software update within the last year.
I have this setup. The new remote has IR for the TV to control it, and the TV powers on with whatever input you set it was on last. If you want to cast, cast to the Nvidia shield, not the TV. The TV will just be a "dumb" TV.
